Ac, Heating And Refrigeration Technology
Heating, air conditioning and refrigeration are everywhere!
Which means that heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians are needed everywhere– in homes, schools, hospitals, offices, restaurants, etc. Employment opportunities include working for companies that service residential systems, commercial systems, or both. With enough work experience and training you can pursue a mechanical contractor’s license from the state and open your own company. Our field is projected to grow much faster than the average occupation. As residential and commercial building construction increases, so will the demand for a qualified HVAC technicians.
The AC, Heating and Refrigeration program at FTCC is a two-year associate of applied science degree and includes coursework in the following:
- Electricity controls and safety
- Heating and cooling theory
- Mechanical refrigeration
- Air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps
- Tools and instruments
- Residential building codes
- Residential system sizing
- Advanced comfort systems
Graduates should be able to assist in the start up, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and/or installation of residential and light commercial systems.
