Position Classification: Non-Exempt Department: Production / Installation
Supervisory Responsibility: No Reports To: Field Manager
The Journeyman Tile Setter is a skilled craft worker responsible for performing the job staging work on tile at new construction or renovation work sites. In a production environment, this position is responsible for working on multiple tasks to complete a job on time and within budget. In a teaching environment, this position is responsible for assisting apprentice level employees to increase skills with product installation through hands-on experience. This position operates a variety of hand and power tools and other equipment.
Education – Minimum of a High School Diploma required; Forklift, Aerial Platform and/or OSHA 10HR certificate preferred
Experience – Must Complete Apprentice Setter Levels 5 – 10
Level 1: Minimum of Five and a Half (5.5) years’ experience required
Level 2: Minimum of Six (6) years’ experience required
Level 3: Minimum of Six and a Half (6.5) years’ experience required
Level 4: Minimum of Seven (7) years’ experience required
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle license and ability to operate motor vehicles in the course of employment.
- Must abide by company Vehicle Use Agreement and all conditions set forth in said document.

- Coordinates work activities with Field Manager and other skilled craft workers.
- Maintains consistent work practices for optimal quality control on a job site.
- Performs a variety of tasks as instructed by the supervisor to create installations of tile for new construction or renovation projects.
- Uses tools, equipment, and materials to stage and effectively finish tile work.
- Documents and/or provides directions for floor and wall preparation.
- Teaches apprentice workers finishing skills on the job.
- Follows all safety protocols at all times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to travel or work out of town for extended periods. This position may require evening and weekend work.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
